Millfields hotel

I'm staying here while visiting family at the nearby hospital, just a short walk away. Room 53 is clean, comfortable, and well equipped. The staff have been friendly and helpful, and they've been very accommodating as my plans have changed. I can't fault my stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Millfields gave us a relaxed, comfortable place to end a hard and tiring day. We held our father's wake there, and everything from the room and tasty buffet to the general atmosphere was just right. Family had come from far away, so we stayed most of the afternoon. Nobody hurried us or put any pressure on us to move things along. We were left to ourselves and could leave when we were ready. Thank you.

I've stayed at the hotel many times without a problem, which is why I booked again. This time, room Number 10, next to the main hotel, wasn't satisfactory. The listing mentions useful things like a TV and iron, but the fan didn't work and the toilet wouldn't flush. Embarrassingly, it was still unplugged when I checked out. I reported the problems and got an apology; they said they'd fix things because they couldn't put someone in a room with broken items. But there was no reduction in the price of my stay. As a regular guest, I found that very unprofessional, and it gave me no reason to return.

The staff made me feel really welcome, and the service throughout was friendly and attentive. Marie the manager was lovely, as were Carl the chef and his team. I stayed Saturday night in newly refurbished room 29. It was spacious, clean, fresh, and still smelled new, with a big bath, a powerful hot shower, heating, tea and coffee, and all the shower products. The TV was great, though it took me a while to work out that a toggle switch changed the volume. Some instructions would have helped. The food was excellent: fresh, tasty meals during the day, a great menu, and proper homemade chips. Dining came to £96 for two belly pork starters and mains, fish and chips, and a chicken fillet. Wine was £27. Breakfast was faultless, with quality food and generous portions, and well worth having. I highly recommend the place. If you're celebrating a special anniversary, get in touch, they'll go the extra mile. I'll keep recommending it.
