The welcome was warm from the owners and all the staff, and the pub has a lovely atmosphere with two open fires. I had the carvery, and the gammon cooked in cider was a highlight. The sticky toffee pudding came with lots of sauce and was excellent, and there’s a big choice of regional beers too. A great pub, well worth going out of your way for.

We all had the Sunday carvery for my wife’s 60th birthday with family and friends. There were five meats to choose from and more vegetables than I could list, all delicious. A big thank you to Chris, Steve, the chef, the bar staff and the waitresses for looking after us and making the afternoon memorable. I’d highly recommend it, but remember to book.

Visited twice over the weekend and loved it both times. The atmosphere, food and service were all 10/10. They don’t automatically add a service charge to the bill, which I respect, so remember to tip if you’re happy with the place :)

My recent visits have been really disappointing. The service used to feel warm and familiar, but now it comes across as indifferent, sometimes with an attitude that leaves you feeling unwelcome. I was especially shocked by derogatory comments from the owners while offering a beer. That kind of behaviour has no place in hospitality and shows disregard for customers. The beer quality has fallen off a cliff too. It tastes off, almost chemical, which makes me wonder about low turnover and careless stock management. The prices are reasonable, but that doesn’t help when the drink is poor and the service feels colder than the glasses. Chris, the white-haired manager/owner operator on duty, showed no customer care or professionalism. This used to be a good place, but after my last visit they’ve lost me as a loyal regular for good. There are much better pubs nearby that take pride in their drinks and how they treat people, with the Grantly Arms being a perfect example.
