The staff were excellent, and even though it was busy we managed to get a parking space. The Travelodge is decent and easy to reach, with a good gym next door where you can buy a day pass, though it isn't affiliated with the hotel. We stayed one night as a family of four with two dogs. The problem was that dogs aren't allowed in the bar or eating area, which wasn't clear on the website or when we booked. We'd booked dinner, bed and breakfast, but had to choose between eating in our room or splitting up to eat in the restaurant so the dogs wouldn't be left alone.

The location isn't terrible, and at least food delivery doesn't take ages, but it wasn't where I expected it to be. The reception is on the second floor, with people coming and going as they please, which struck me as odd. I also find it strange that the accessible rooms are on the top floor, since you can't use the elevator in an emergency 🤷🏼♂️. Having travelled and stayed at different hotels, I'd put this one among the lowest. That's just my personal preference.

Sushanta made a great first impression with his warm smile, polite manner, and professional approach. Check-in was quick, and he explained the hotel facilities and local attractions clearly. He was patient and ready to help with requests, from transport and directions to answering questions, handling everything efficiently and confidently. His positive attitude and commitment to guest satisfaction really stood out. He goes above and beyond to help guests feel comfortable and valued.

The pie and mash were nice, though the green beans were cold. Breakfast was okay, but there was no fresh fruit salad 😢. Parking was a joke: most spaces are under a 2.2m height barrier, and the rest aren't suitable for larger vans. My room looked straight onto the train track, and trains regularly woke me even with the window shut. There was no plug in the bathroom sink, and ordering at the bar was hard because the barman couldn't understand English. I stay at lots of Travelodge hotels, but this one really disappointed me and I won't return.

The car park became a real problem in the evenings. Gym users filled it, so after 5pm there often wasn't anywhere to park. During our week-long stay, we waited in the car for a space to open up for 30 minutes a few times. The gym is a perk, but the parking situation took away from that. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, with good-sized rooms and everything needed for a short or long stay. The bathroom was a bit small. We faced the train line, but it didn't bother us. Just outside Guildford, it has good links to the A3 for getting around, though rush hour traffic gets pretty heavy.
