Travelodge Caerphilly Hotel

The staff were lovely, and the facilities were great. The shower was a bit weak, but fine, and there was a TV for watching shows. The window looked out onto a peaceful roundabout, which was a great view. We also had USB-only charging ports by the bed. When we arrived the toilet smelled strongly of grade 10 cat wee, but thankfully it cleared up after a few hours. Five stars, can't fault it. Travelodge has outdone itself again, we'll be back 🫡

The staff were flexible and helpful when we needed to check in quite late, which we really appreciated. Our room was spot on, very clean and comfortable. I'd absolutely stay here again.

There are plenty of parking spaces, and food and drink places are within walking distance if you need them. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and the Wi-Fi was good.

We were woken repeatedly through the night by people trying to get into rooms. Cars also pulled up in the car park at all hours to meet other guests, with music loud enough to rattle the windows. The whole stay felt unsettled and uncomfortable. The staff were doing what they could, but corporate decisions and a lack of support and resources seemed to have let them down. Fabric shower curtains left bathrooms smelling like a gents' toilet in a dive bar, as there apparently wasn't time for deep cleaning. Our first room smelled so bad we had to move. Check-in took more than 30 minutes, which was hard with pets after a three-hour drive. We'd paid for them to stay and expected arrival to go smoothly. Rooms hadn't been checked before assignment. Our party found rooms that stank, some still had people's belongings in them, one hadn't been cleaned at all, and some had unknown substances splattered on the walls. It quickly became clear we wouldn't get a properly clean room and would have to settle for the best available.
