The room was spacious, spotless and comfortable, and the owner made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We also liked having the back area with picnic tables for a bit of downtime. The Dog Inn sits in a charming village, with a welcoming pub that seems popular with locals, and the High Street is only a short walk away. A really warm and memorable stay.

The landlord welcomed us warmly and joked about apologising for having a choice of ales. The beer was well kept and we had a great visit. It's a proper old-fashioned pub, and I hope they leave it as it is. Dogs are welcome, and the locals treated us like regulars straight away. If I lived in Halstead I'd happily cross town to make it my local, but a couple of us are from Braintree, so that won't happen.

We slept so well, the room was really quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Both the room and bathroom were tidy and clean, and breakfast was tasty and generous. The landlord made us feel at home and the service was excellent. The location worked well for us, and we'll definitely stay at The Dog Inn again. Easy to recommend.

The room was quiet, and I could get to bed at 10pm without any problem, even though it's a pub inn. The manager was easy-going, helpful and great to deal with. The photos of the rooms in red are out of date; they've all been renovated recently and are clean and lovely. I'd stay here again next time I'm in Halstead.

Breakfast was huge, and the place is a great, affordable option. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bar had a cosy, friendly feel, and the location puts you right in the heart of Halstead. Our host was fantastic, walked us through what we needed to know and answered all our questions.
