We enjoyed the meals, and the nightly specials made them good value. The walk between haltwhistle and hadrians wall path via the Burn path is attractive, so that detour wasn't an issue. The rooms in the car park, which may have been converted stables, had what seemed like no sound insulation. We could hear the neighbours' TV and conversations in the evening and morning. The bathroom and sauna worked, but parts were missing and the water was damaging what remained. Breakfast is served in the front room, so from the street it looks empty, which seems counterproductive.

The personal feel was a nice change from chain hotels. My room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, with a huge bath. The service was really good, and they took care of my dietary requirement. On the second morning, they’d even put out something extra for me, which amazed me. I had dinner there one night and enjoyed it. If you're doing the walk, it’s a seven-minute walk from the station and right beside the bus stops, making it easy to travel sustainably to different places along the wall.

We were walking Hadrian's Wall and found it easy to catch the AD122 bus to the wall from here. The couple and staff were lovely, and made us and Olive, our spaniel, feel welcome. The breakfast was amazing, and we even had a sauna in our room. I'd recommend visiting Haltwhistle and staying here.

I haven't been there, but the location looks intriguing and seems to open up all sorts of possibilities.
