The hosts were lovely and friendly, and the accommodation was alright, though the kitchen could do with more cutlery. It’s a nice secluded spot with the Trans Pennine Way nearby and some routes around the property. Getting to certain places does take a while.

We spent a fantastic week at Byrness House celebrating my brother’s 60th birthday with three generations of the family. It’s a big house, but still felt cosy, with room for everyone.

Catherine & Peter are friendly, fun to chat with, and know the area well. I stay with my family a couple of times a year, or stop in when business takes me to Scotland. Their place is popular with walkers on the penine way, and there’s a coffee shop with tasty homemade cakes, a licensed bar, and great home cooked food. They also offer bed & breakfast. I highly recommend it if you’re travelling up that way.

Helpful, lovely owners and clean rooms in a wonderful old house. Fantastic in every way!

We’ve stayed twice now. The food was brilliant both times, and after that long, hot slog over the Cheviots, the barman’s shandy was just what we needed to bring us round.
