The quiz was great fun, and we'll definitely return. Service was a little slow, but the food was clearly homemade. My husband said his chicken burger was one of the best he'd had locally, and I enjoyed the lemon chicken pasta. Both were fresh, nicely presented and decent portions. The fish and chips and starters ordered by the rest of our party looked excellent too. We skipped pudding, though the ones going to other tables looked lovely. The staff were friendly and clearly working hard.

The pie was good, but the evening was a fiasco. We'd been looking forward to a night out with my future son in law for 'pie night'. We booked for 7pm, ordered two starters, then 10-15 minutes later were told there was only one portion. We switched to calamari, but another 10-15 minutes passed before we were told they had none. The other options didn't suit, so we settled on one portion of belly pork to share. By then it was approaching 8pm, and we were waiting for our pie mains. They finally arrived around 8:30, after a very long wait. We seemed to be the last to eat, and the quiet, relaxing dinner we'd expected was disrupted by 'QUIZ NIGHT!' We ate quickly, then went out to the rather shabby courtyard for a break before deciding to leave early. Honestly, the incredibly slow service and lack of food spoiled the whole evening. I felt really sorry for the lass serving us, who was great, but the rest was a shambles. We won't be back.

They got all the food ready and plated for our group at the same time, even though we arrived 40 minutes early. Everything was hot and delicious, and all the staff were incredibly polite. I'd arranged food for 13 after a Sunday christening, having seen the place had recently reopened. I called at short notice, and they were happy to help. We sorted the order and paid a deposit, then were seated with drinks when we arrived early. Thank you for helping make the end of our special day tasty as well. We'll definitely return and recommend you to friends and family.

The staff were friendly, helpful and so accommodating, especially with just one guy on shift. They fitted our group of five with a highchair and could potentially accommodate a dog. I'm gluten free, and there were two substantial meal options for me, one of them vegan, plus a delicious starter. Lovely cocktails topped it off. It's right by the Manor house and bluebell fields.
