After a long hike around Bamford/Stanedge edge, I stopped here for food and a drink. It's a warm, welcoming pub, and the staff were friendly. The meals were excellent and came out quickly. I'd definitely recommend it after a hike!

We stopped for lunch after touring the dams next door. The atmosphere was nice, the staff attentive and the food excellent. Good value too, though it's worth paying a little extra for the superior sandwiches.

The rooms are spotless, comfortable and furnished and decorated to a high standard. A lovely touch was fresh milk in a little thermos for tea instead of UHT in plastic pots, so much better. After a long, wet walk over the hills, arriving at this Inn was a real treat. The pub is beautifully appointed, spacious and still cosy, with excellent food. The accommodation is just as good, and the location is ideal for walkers and cyclists.

A small gripe, the car park gets a bit tight when it's busy. Otherwise, great food, a friendly atmosphere and really helpful staff. We'll definitely be back.

We called in while passing and every table was occupied, but they offered us one as long as we could leave by 2pm. That gave us an hour and 40 minutes. I had a lovely feta and roasted butternut squash salad, nicely presented and generous, and my husband enjoyed his lamb dinner. We recommend it and will return.
