The room was only average, with a mouldy smell and fixtures and furnishings in poor repair. The car park entrance also had deep potholes that really need filling. For one night it was tolerable, but the breakfast situation was frustrating. We had paid for breakfast and nobody told us at check-in that only a continental option was available. We found out from the Beefeater staff. Because of allergies, we couldn't eat that, so we asked for a refund. The front desk staff knew about the restriction, yet hadn't mentioned it, even when we asked about breakfast.

The next morning's breakfast was another letdown. The cooked food was cold, the bacon I asked to have crispy was so overdone and hard it couldn't be eaten, and the bread and pastries were stale and rock hard. Tea was the only decent part. Next door, I couldn't get a table for one because they said they were fully booked for outside guests, with no space kept for hotel residents. I had one gin and tonic at the bar for £9.25, then ended up ordering takeaway to the hotel. My room, 108, was freezing, with no working heating. Condensation covered the inside windows and ran down them like a waterfall. The decor was shabby, and the bathroom had mould on the ceiling, walls, and tiles. The fan ran all night and kept me awake. The room was dirty and dusty, and nowhere near what I expect from Premier Inn. The bed and duvet were okay, but as soon as I pulled the covers back to get up, I felt just how cold the room was. I've stayed at plenty of Premier Inns across the UK, and this was the worst. The whole stay was horrendous, and I'd never come back. If I could give minus stars, I would.

The location is great, but the room had no proper ventilation. Humidity built up, the air felt heavy, and a strong unpleasant smell of mould and damp stayed trapped there for our whole visit. I hope management upgrades the rooms and sorts out the airflow soon.

I slept well and the bed was comfortable. The room was clean, though there was a thick layer of dust behind the TV that we only spotted when trying to plug in our Fire Stick. The carpets were quite manky, and this place needs some updating. I've stayed at lots of Premier Inns around the country and expect their standards to be generally high.

James was lovely to deal with and quickly sorted a smooth room change. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was right. Really impressed with the service, he's a real credit to the team.
