College Guest House

We stayed in Room 7, which was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. There was a fridge in the room and another downstairs. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day. There’s no parking at the property, but a large car park directly opposite costs only £2 for 24 hours. It had plenty of spaces, and we could see the car from the guest house, which was handy.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and really nice, and the owners were attentive and courteous. The room was good value, with tea and coffee, a bottle of water, proper glasses, and even some generous chocolate bars, a thoughtful touch. The rooms were clean too. There’s no lift, so you do need to manage the stairs. Street parking is free, with a public car park close by.

The original Georgian character is still there, including shutters instead of curtains. College Guest House is in old Haverfordwest, and after a long drive I arrived late to a warm welcome. My room and en-suite were spotless, and I slept so soundly I nearly missed breakfast. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. A definite thumbs up.

Room 2 was on the top floor and very clean, but a lot of the furniture knobs were loose and the pieces didn’t feel sturdy. It was a twin room, and my mattress was awful, with the springs poking into me. I asked the lady for quilts to put over it, but she was curt, said nothing was wrong, and wouldn’t come check. One of the quilts she offered was stained. I didn’t feel welcome, and it definitely wasn’t worth the money.
