Stone House Hotel

Our ground-floor room had a conservatory, which was very nice, and the location was excellent. Wi-Fi was decent, and the service from all the staff was excellent. Breakfast and dinner were both very good. I'd only suggest a wider choice of evening meals and sandwiches to make the hotel better. We'll return to this wonderful hotel.

For cosy country charm, this place has it. The hotel is full of character, intimate and friendly, and sits amid the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It's well placed for exploring the area, with Wensleydale and Hawes a short drive away. The staff were friendly, the food was lovely, and my room had an attached conservatory where I enjoyed my morning coffee. I'd definitely stay again.

We were staying nearby and popped in the day before to book a table for my birthday. We were in walking gear, but the staff didn't seem bothered by that and were welcoming from the start. My partner said she felt at home straight away. We ended up spending four hours over tea and coffee, chatting with a couple who were staying there. When we returned the next evening, the staff greeted us with smiles again. The three-course meal was beautiful, and we finished with coffee in the lounge beside the open fire. We'll definitely come back, and maybe stay next time. Definitely recommended.

The food was fantastic from breakfast through the evening, and the portions were just right. Don't be put off by pictures online that make them look small. The little bar was great for a drink before dinner, with local draught bitter and lager too. Everyone on staff was brilliant from check-in to check-out. I wish I could remember their names, because they all deserve credit for a job well done. Our room had a cosy feel, was very clean, and had a beautiful view over the Dales and Hawes. The bathroom and shower were spotless and worked perfectly. The hotel is also well placed for walks, with quiet and peaceful Bellow hill road nearby. Hawes is charming, and there are some pretty waterfalls in the area. You can really see the magic of the Yorkshire Dales from here. I'm of retirement age and have stayed at quite a few hotels around the world, and this is in my top five. I almost don't want to review it and let too many people know about this jewel in the Dales. I hope to stay again.
