Our annex was roomy, clean, warm and comfortable, with its own bathroom and kitchen area, and we loved the house and gorgeous gardens. Amanda and Simon made us feel so welcome, especially with our anxious little rescue dog, and the food was absolutely fantastic. We appreciated being able to join morning prayers, with no pressure to take part. It was such a lovely break, and we’ll definitely come back if we can make it up again.

I loved relaxing with the great selection of books in the little library corner on the first floor. The food was excellent too, especially the potatoes and courgettes that went straight from the garden to our plates. Thanks to Amanda, Kate and Simon for their truly Christian hospitality. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and I thoroughly enjoyed my retreat here. Excellent service and facilities.

Such lovely people run this very special place. Some rooms could do with a bit of an upgrade, but I couldn’t fault the hospitality.

There was a real sense of camaraderie among the other guests, with crafting, reading, music, singing, and some lovely local walks and visits. We’ve stayed at Whitchester Christian Centre near Hawick in Scotland six times in six years and are already looking forward to going again. We love the peace and quiet, the hosts Simon and Amanda are wonderfully friendly, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is excellent too.

We visited this wonderful retreat in April 2022 and really didn’t want to leave. It’s tucked away in a secluded spot, with birds singing every morning. The breakfasts were delicious. A delightful break, superb.
