Upstairs, the large lounge has exposed timber floors and beams, with sofas, chairs and a wood burner. There’s a roomy, comfortable bed in the bedroom, plus a little nook toilet for a cheeky nighttime wee. Downstairs, the charming kitchen is well equipped and has an adjoining bathroom with a bath and a washer/dryer. It’s a lovely spot overlooking a busy street, or a handy base for Hay’s bookshops, cafes and galleries. Free tea and coffee are provided, along with what you need to get started. Parking, free or cheap, is a short walk away. A beautiful little apartment in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, and a great way to enjoy old English/Welsh life from years gone by.

Right in the middle of Hay, this is a perfect place to stay. The bathroom is a bit small, but it works perfectly well. The sitting room is comfortable, and the bedroom is a good size and very quiet. It’s an entirely self-contained unit with a well-equipped kitchen. If you’re tall, watch your head around the beams and doorways, though that’s what you’d expect in a C16th building.

We’ve just spent another lovely weekend in this beautiful apartment. The furnishings are high quality throughout, and the location is perfect. There’s a restaurant serving excellent food just a two-minute walk away. James, the owner, is really helpful and gave us great tips on where to eat, shop and mooch around the area. It’s the best-quality apartment I’ve stayed in. You’d be daft not to!
