We had a first-floor room looking out over the bridge and river, and the facilities were fantastic. Breakfast was self-service, and having a washing machine and tumble drier was especially handy while travelling with children. The B&B is lovely and well appointed, right in the centre of the village. The owner gave us a warm welcome, showed us how everything worked, then left us to ourselves, which was perfect.

The owner was a fantastic gentleman, happy to answer any questions and even gave me a lift on a Sunday after the train service at Haydon’s Bridge was canceled. My room was comfortable, and the quiet was so peaceful that I probably had one of the best nights’ sleep of my life. This is truly a gem in Northern England. If I come up to see Hadrian’s Wall again, I’ll definitely return. Thanks again for such a peaceful stay.

We visited in May, so this is a late review. The beds were comfy, the shower was good, and the self-service continental breakfast was well provisioned. Service was informal, and we got good recommendations for places to eat locally. It’s also centrally located for Hadrians Wall. Liz and Ian

Management was wonderful and accommodating, and I’d stay here again without question if I came back to visit the family castles. The breakfast was light, which was what I expected. There were plenty of coffee presses and grounds for each room, plus space in the fridge for everyone to use. My wife usually can’t sleep on hotel beds because they’re too soft, but she was fine in Room #1. I slept well too, even though I prefer a pillowtop. We both have allergies, but had no trouble breathing in the room. We were very happy with our stay.

We spent two nights at the reading room, and it’s a great base for walking Hadrian's Wall or fishing in the Tyne. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and all the cooking facilities were available. Nothing seemed like too much trouble for brian. He takes pride in the rooms and clearly enjoys meeting people. You can tell it makes him happy when guests say they’ll come back. Highly recommended.
