The kitchen looked impressive, with dishes coming out beautifully presented, and we had a very good pint of Timothy Taylors' at the bar. We only popped in for a drink while staying in Hebden on New Year's Eve, and although they were fully booked for dinner, we felt really welcome. It has that warm, friendly feel of a proper pub, alongside a professionally run kitchen and hotel.

Burnsall and Grassington are both walkable along the Wharf, and this feels like a good base if you want somewhere quieter than Grassington. We’ve stayed in the rooms before, back in 2020, and came by again in 2025 while staying nearby. The food and service were spot on as usual. Scarlet and Freddy looked after us all week, friendly, professional and accommodating, even with our two wet cockers. We’ve visited many times over the years and look forward to coming back next year. Chris, Zoë, Winnie & Rodney

Breakfast was very good, and they even cooked my dog a sausage, tick! Dinner was excellent on both nights, with a great choice. This family-run pub and inn is peaceful, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and it’s dog friendly too. The room was spacious and clean, with what I needed for two nights. It’s a 300-year-old building, so don’t expect all the modern conveniences. I’d definitely come back and would happily recommend it.

We’ve eaten here before, so it was a surprise to find the standards had fallen so much. One person’s chicken Caesar salad arrived with the chicken on a separate plate because it had been left out of the dish. The single scoop of ice cream came in what looked to us like a chef’s saucepan. The game pie meat was very tender, but the crust was badly overcooked. There was definitely no soggy bottom, and my partner left about 80 percent of the pastry. We felt we were really overcharged for what we had.

The venison with curried mango was well worth having, who knew? The food was delicious and cooked perfectly, and the two lads serving gave great service. I only ate here, so I can’t say how the rooms are. It’s got a great atmosphere, like a proper country pub.
