Free parking was handy, and the staff were generally polite, though the welcome itself was nothing special. The room felt worn and stayed uncomfortably cold even after I mentioned it to reception. They were polite and said they'd deal with it, but nothing changed. You'd expect basic heating to be taken care of. The shower was tiny, though at least the water was hot, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting in and out. Dinner cost about what you'd expect at a hotel, but the steak was disappointing. The beer was nice, if pricey. Breakfast was a very basic continental spread: toast, croissant, cereal, yoghurt, tea and coffee. Jam was shared rather than provided in individual portions. There were no cooked dishes, cheese or cold meats. All told, it felt more like a three-star stay than the four-star rating suggests.

Breakfast is part of the price, but with the kitchen closed there was no cooked option and no reduction in the rate. The reception manager told me I'd got a good deal through Booking.com, so they wouldn't lower it. How I booked shouldn't matter. There wasn't a hot evening meal available either. For breakfast, the choice was toast, cereal or a bowl of fruit.

The setting by the beautiful saltwater Gare Loch is stunning, and Loch Lomond and the lovely village off Luss are only a short drive away. Helensburgh is walkable, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. We spent three nights here over New Year 2025 and will definitely come back. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious and very well priced. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of staying here yet.

We came for a family Christmas get-together and everyone at Rosslea Hall Hotel looked after us so well. John was especially brilliant, and the staff were all really helpful. It's in a beautiful spot, with some lovely walks nearby and pubs within walking distance. The Rhu Inn was particularly good. We also had a fab breakfast at the hotel. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

The disabled room hadn't been hoovered, and the hotel feels old, cold and dark. It badly needs updating and a good decorator. There was no cooked breakfast, and the site doesn't mention that. The lovely woman working there was also trying to cover the bar and help with a wedding room for the next day. The owners need to put money into the place, paint the walls cream, provide a cooked breakfast and get more staff.
