We came back this year because the location suits our travel plans, though I wasn't impressed when we stayed a year ago either. The staff were very helpful, but the reception desk looks like a factory stores counter. Our room overlooked the loch, so the view was lovely, but that only partly made up for the room's condition. We'd heard the hotel had been refurbished, yet I'm sure I got the same room as last year, with the same huge crack across the window. The window setup is strange: two inner single-glazed panes that don't open, then another single-glazed pane about two feet away, permanently open with no visible way to close it. There was little sound insulation, and the room felt colder because of it, a problem in January, especially with the radiators not working. Fortunately there was a portable fan heater in the corner. The shower sounded like an angle grinder, the walls let through every sound, and the rooms feel shabby overall.

It's an older Travelodge, but it was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed for a couple of nights and had a lovely sea view from our room.
Kirstie at reception was friendly and helpful. It was my first stay here, and the location was perfect.
For a two star hotel, it's pretty reasonable and in a great location, with a good pub and restaurant downstairs for lunch and dinner. The food there is good, but sadly they don't serve breakfast, which would really lift the place. I know what to expect from a two star stay, but the cleaning was very poor. As far as we could tell, none of the areas were cleaned during our week there. The carpets need vacuuming, the dust needs doing, and some basic painting and repairs are overdue. It's okay, but grubby, and definitely feels like its two star rating. The shower curtain is a real nuisance. The original shower doors have been removed, and because the curtain rail sits inside the shower, the curtain wraps around you while you wash. They should put the doors back. The breakfast box is awful, so save your money and get a sandwich, coffee or snacks from the nearby shop. If Travelodge keeps offering it, they should include a milk alternative like soya or oat and stop using processed food. Surely they could arrange fresh pastries from a local shop, and the cereal was rank, maybe Kellogg's cornflakes.
We booked this Travelodge as a stop on the way to the Highlands, partly because we'd been to the Commodore Inn next door before. The room was hot, but we couldn't open the windows, and there was a strange noise outside that went on for a while. Our view was of the unsightly car park bins. The room was very outdated, and the bathroom was in poor repair, including the tiling and decor. The toilet roll holder was positioned so awkwardly that you couldn't sit properly. The radiator vents were filthy, though we were lucky not to need the radiators. Reception was just a dreary desk along a corridor and didn't feel welcoming, although the receptionist was friendly. Our room was opposite the desk. This was by far the worst Travelodge we've stayed in, and nowhere near worth £115 for the night. We won't return or recommend it.
