My Mrs and I had a lovely couples’ break, with amazing views from the room and very friendly, welcoming staff throughout. We really enjoyed all three courses, and the food was very good. It did take a little while between courses, but the restaurant was really busy, which is understandable. Apart from that, dinner and service were amazing, and the staff were lovely. Would recommend for a couples trip away.

We spent a fantastic weekend here and enjoyed a three-course dinner and breakfast, with lovely views over Loch Lomond. The staff were pleasant and helpful without being overbearing. Highly recommend for either a short or longer stay.

The view from room one and the restaurant is lovely, but the hotel seems to rely too much on its beautiful location and let the details slide elsewhere. We stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast. The hallway carpet looked new but was covered in muck, as if it hadn’t been vacuumed for a while. There were tea stains on the mugs in our room too. Not a huge problem on its own, but it added to the feeling of poor attention to detail. The food was disappointing and bland. The roast was especially dry and overcooked, including the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, and at £25 it was hard to justify. Drinks and everything else seemed expensive too. Staff were attentive in the evening, but breakfast was chaotic, with queues for the coffee machine, everyone squeezed into one area, dogs barking and people shouting across the room about juice. It really clashed with the tranquil scenery. We’re an engaged couple who were excited to explore wedding options here, but honestly, I’d be embarrassed to expect family and friends to pay those prices, especially for food and drinks, just for a nice view to carry everything else.

The staff are what made the stay stand out. Every one of them, from reception to the groundsmen, was cheerful, friendly and accommodating. Aaron looked after us at dinner and was efficient, attentive and friendly. The spa staff were kind about us running a little late too. We had a wonderful night away in a gorgeous location, with a lovely room and magical views. The food was great as well. Management are lucky to have such brilliant, professional people. Thanks for a lovely experience.

We arrived at 8:10 PM, dressed well and clearly tourists, and asked at the hotel reception whether we could eat in the restaurant. The receptionist immediately asked if we were staying at the hotel. When we said no, she quickly sent us to ask the restaurant instead. Not a very nice introduction. The restaurant staff initially welcomed us, but their mood changed as soon as we said we weren’t guests, and they told us there was no space. I pointed out at least four empty tables while the restaurant was running and had plenty of people in it. The young woman just repeated that they were too busy and dismissed us without explanation. These people don’t seem to understand how to deal with potential customers or provide basic, decent service, including a smile and a welcome to non-guests who might come back as customers another time. I would not recommend wasting your time trying to eat here if you’re not staying at the hotel, since you’ll be turned away. After that experience, I wouldn’t recommend going here at all. The service is clearly way below average.
