A day after I booked dinner for my birthday, I got an automated text and email saying the booking had been cancelled. It would’ve been much better if someone had called to explain, instead of leaving me to chase it. When I phoned straight away, the young woman had to check with a colleague, then told me it was because rugby was showing. I’d suggest blocking those dates from online bookings and giving people a personal explanation. I’d also paid a £10-per-person deposit, which is more than I’d expect when places usually just keep card details and charge for no-shows. It’s nearly a week later and I’m still waiting for my deposit back, and I’m not hopeful.

There are four lovely, well-appointed rooms here, and the towels were the most luxurious we’ve ever had. They’re wonderfully dog-friendly too, even cooking a sausage for our dog at breakfast. The team went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure. Of all the pubs we’ve stayed at on the Thames Path, The Baskerville Arms was the friendliest and most welcoming. Highly recommended!

We were in the area for work and stopped for a meal. The beef pie was amazing, the service excellent, and the atmosphere great, with the music at just the right volume. The prices seemed fair for the quality. Well worth stopping in, and I’d recommend it.

Really good lunch and excellent service. Thanks. A great option for gluten-free guests and people who don’t drink.

The pub was cosy and welcoming, and the staff made our group feel right at home: eleven adults, two little kids and two puppies. We’d met up with family for lunch, and the food was great. The team couldn’t have been more helpful. It’s in a great location, and I’d happily recommend it!
