The Relais Henley

You can’t beat the location in Henley, right by the Thames and the famous bridge. Our refurbished room was comfortable and kept the character of the historic building. Breakfast had a decent, plentiful selection, but it gets very busy at 9am on Sunday, so going earlier might be a good idea. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, though the menu looked excellent. The manager’s handwritten note was a really nice touch.

I had a very enjoyable three-night bed-and-breakfast stay. The staff were helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was beautiful and had all the trimmings. Breakfast offered good hot and cold food. The hotel is in the town centre, close to transport.

Peaceful despite being right in the town centre. The room was lovely and breakfast excellent. Parking is a bit of a faff, but it didn’t spoil the experience.

A lovely hotel, and breakfast was lovely too. The young staff were smart and polite, but seemed to need more training or supervision. Small things kept being missing: no salt and pepper or milk on my table, no teaspoons on any table, and no side plates for pastries or milk for cereal until we asked. At checkout they said I had nothing to pay because I’d prepaid; I reminded them about the coffee I’d had at the bar when I arrived and then paid for it. I’d booked a Premier room with a river view, but ended up in the attic, where I had to stand on tiptoe to see the river through a small, high window. It’s still a lovely hotel, just needs more attention to detail.
