Papillon Woodhall Arms

We expected more after reading the great reviews. We only chose this restaurant because our usual Watton pub had no tables, and unfortunately we left unimpressed. It was very cold inside, and the old furniture made it feel like the 80s. The extensive menu looked impressive, but most of us had Sunday roasts, lamb or salmon, and they were only okay, nothing special. The waiters did their jobs well, but the man dressed all in black, who we assumed was the manager, seemed grumpy and responded to us with disgruntled looks. A disappointing two-star experience for a local Hertford family. We'll stick to The Bull in Watton.
