The setting was lovely, with beautiful views, and the food was good, though not amazing. But the meal felt uncomfortable because the service was so poor. We’d pre-ordered a couple of weeks ahead for our big Boxing Day group. Some dishes seemed wrong at first, then two of one meal arrived and the vegan burger was missing. When I showed staff the correct order in my email, they blamed me and didn’t apologise. They said the replacement would take a while, which was fine, but nobody checked how the meal was or asked about dessert. There were plenty of empty tables, so they didn’t seem swamped. We went to the bar to order desserts; some arrived quickly, while others took ages. Eventually we went back to ask, and the last items were brought out. When we asked for the bill, someone left it on the table and never came back, so we had to go to the bar to pay. I’ve never had anything like that. At around £17 for a main in Hull, I expected better customer service.

We had a family birthday lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was good, and the service was great. Our lunch was freshly made and lovely, with a view over the river. Well done.

The Country park Inn has a lovely location, but we left disappointed and had hoped for better. The food tasted cheap and was mediocre for the price. Service felt chaotic, with just three staff members in a busy pub. It wasn’t a great experience.

We met family at the pub and parked our motorhome in the car park behind it for a couple of hours. Parking is paid, though you can get a refund voucher if you spend over £5 in the pub. Staff service was great, and the food and drinks were good. From the window seats there are nice views of the Humber and the bridge. The back car park was very muddy, though I guess it doesn’t get used much at this time of year.

The place was clean, nicely presented and friendly, but it stank like a fish market. The food was middling and tasteless; the beef bouguinon seemed to come from a tin, and the burger was clearly frozen. It was £16. In the gents there was no soap, the taps only dribbled cold water, and the hand dryer was one of those banned Dyson jobs. The barmaid couldn’t work the till. A generous 2.5.
