The shower became so hot on our second morning that it wouldn’t cool down, the first time I’ve ever complained that a shower was too hot. Apart from that, it was a good stay overall. Breakfast was nice, the staff were polite, and the room was a good size for me and my partner. It was affordable too.

Avoid room 49 unless they renovate it. It’s downstairs, opposite the breakfast area bathroom, and cut off from the other rooms in the building. I can’t say whether the other rooms are as bad, they might be nice like the website photos, but room 49 was the dirtiest I’ve ever stayed in. I felt dirtier getting out of the shower than when I went in. The bed squeaked terribly and felt like a camp bed.

We paid £90 for two double rooms. They were clean and tidy, with fresh beds, and basic but comfortable and perfectly adequate. Town is a short walk away, with plenty to eat and do. Just be careful which door you use at the white horse! 😂 I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

We had to cancel because of serious family circumstances, including a death in the family, but the hotel refused to refund our £219.94. They also charged us for two breakfasts we weren’t there to eat. I’m furious, and plan to post this on Trip Advisor and other hotel review sites. That charge will cost the proprietors much more in the long run xx

I spent two weeks here on business and had a pleasant, comfortable stay. The host was very welcoming, and the hotel was clean, simple and good value. Free parking was a nice bonus.
