We waited a little while for someone to take our order, though the menu said food could take about 30 minutes and that’s how long it took. Ordering at the bar and at the table worked fine. The burger was excellent, the brownie was nicely made, and prices were reasonable. It’s cosy and traditional, with a log fire and a lively but comfortable Saturday night feel. The Crossways Inn is very dog friendly, which suited me, though it might not be for everyone. I’d happily return if I’m in the area.

We tried a few pubs in the area while arranging to meet a friend, but none picked up the phone or called back. The Crossways answered straight away, sorted out a table that suited us and welcomed us when we arrived. The staff were wonderful, cheerful and polite, from the barman and the woman serving to the young people working there. They were focused on customers and couldn’t do enough for us. Our friend stayed overnight and said the room was great, the staff were helpful, and there was nothing to worry about. The food was absolutely lovely too, with service to match. There aren’t enough stars for the quality of the food and service. A jewel among the pubs still standing. Give it your support and you won’t be disappointed. We’ll definitely return.

We went on a Saturday lunchtime for a few beers with friends. There was a very good range of ales, and the steak pie was worth the trip by itself, an easy five stars for lunch. I can’t comment on the hotel, only the beer and food. It’s nice to find a proper pub without a TV or loud music getting in the way. Highly recommend it for a beer, lunch and a chat with friends.

Food is served Tuesday to Saturday, and on Monday nights a pizza guy pulls into the car park with freshly made pizzas at good prices. We live in our van, so this is a great place for us. We’ll stop by at least once a week for food and a beer. The staff and dogs are friendly, there’s a log burner when it’s cold, and they let us sleep overnight in our campervan in the car park. They even play theme tunes from classic movies in the toilets, pretty cool.

We stayed in the car park in our motorhome as BritStop members and got a really warm welcome from the barman. The space is huge and perfectly level, with a gorgeous field alongside to wake up to. They’re a Camra member, with a great selection of real ales. There’s also a cute dawg called Maple who likes to hang out by the bar. Perfect!
