The Fox and Hounds

The three of us all enjoyed what we ordered: two different vegetarian dishes and a fish pie. Prices were very affordable too. The barman treated all our requests with such graciousness, and it was a pleasure to meet him.

The steak was the best I’ve ever had. We had lovely company, the people were lovely, and the atmosphere was great in that beautiful English countryside setting. I enjoyed every minute and will definitely come back, with pictures next time. I didn’t see the rooms, though from outside they looked cosy and comfortable.

A lovely country village pub with beers that change every Thursday. There wasn’t any food available when I visited at the end of January 2026, but hopefully it’ll be back soon.

After walking to Uffington White Horse and The Ridgeway, we stopped in for a pint and a sandwich. The beers on tap had a good range, and lunch was good; the staff were friendly and attentive too. The bar is attractive, with a lawn and both covered and open-air seating outside. It feels mainly like a local pub, though some visitors come through as well. We didn’t stay overnight, but it looks as if they have rooms. Good drinks, good food, and really nothing more we could ask for.
