Lord Poulett Arms

This was our second stay, and the staff were so helpful. They left lovely biscuits and treats in the room, which was very clean and kept in excellent condition. Breakfast comes with the stay, and it was delicious. There’s plenty of parking along the street and lots to do nearby, especially if you’re a National Trust member. We had a wonderful time and can’t recommend it enough. Thank you!

The staff made our anniversary feel extra special, going above and beyond for us. We had a lovely meal with some of the best food we’ve had in a while, and breakfast was excellent too. Our room was beautiful, with thoughtful touches throughout. We had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back. :-)

The village was peaceful and quaint, with good walks for the dog. We came for a weekend with friends to celebrate their anniversary, and were welcomed warmly as soon as we arrived. The log fires made the place feel very cosy. John the landlord showed us to our room, which suited us and our dog perfectly. He was made welcome with a treat bag. Dinner had a good choice of dishes and wines. Breakfast was excellent too, with fruit, cereal, toast, cooked food, and other options. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We only came for Sunday lunch, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The pub itself is gorgeous, with lovely interiors and a garden, and the open fire and Christmas tree made it especially beautiful. Our two beef roasts and one pork roast were cooked well. I like beef very pink, as mine was, though I can see that wouldn’t suit everyone. The fat on the beef hadn’t rendered enough for my taste. The sprouts and pancetta on the side are a must. I’d have liked a bigger yorkie, but that’s just me. Dessert was the one letdown: it arrived after about 30 minutes and tasted burnt. The staff sorted it out straight away and were very helpful. A wonderful countryside pub and a real local gem.
