The Boshaw Trout

We came as a group of 11 people in six rooms for a wedding. Our first room was tiny and didn't feel suitable for the price. We were moved to a supposedly better room, but it had no proper bed or mattress, and the extractor fan was noisy all night. After the first of our two nights, there was no other room available. We understand that things can go wrong, but when we spoke to management there was no empathy that we were part of a wedding party for the weekend. They refunded the second night and sent us away with a flea in our ear. We were told we were lucky to have attended the wedding, but nobody apologized for disrupting our friend's weekend. If you're hoping to “get lucky” with accommodation, look elsewhere.

We booked a family meal, and two of the dishes were poor. The mixed grill was expensive, with terrible steak and gammon. The gammon was anaemic-looking and very chewy. I mentioned it but got no response at all. The menu isn't very extensive, so you'd hope they'd get the limited choices right. Service was fine until I complained.

The food came out really quickly and was lovely. Staff were very friendly too. I'll definitely visit again!

The menu was very limited, and my first choice wasn't available. I ended up with a burnt steak pie. My husband ordered fish, and his sense of smell isn't very good, which was probably just as well. I'd kept saying there was a bad smell, and after he ate all but a mouthful of the fish, it was definitely that. Very disappointing.
