The Bickford Arms

We came for dinner one evening while staying with family nearby, and I'm really glad we chose the bickford arms. The bar maids who served us were lovely and made us feel looked after. We both had steak, cooked beautifully and in generous portions. We enjoyed the locals' banter while we ate, and even chatted with a couple of them before leaving. It was hilarious and gave the place a proper pub feel. We'll be back in the summer and plan to dine here again. Thank you!

We went for a Sunday Roast at this quiet little pub in a lovely village. I chose lamb and my partner had beef, both with roast potatoes and veg, and it was absolutely lovely. Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome.

I've always found the staff polite and the customer service generally good, and the food is good quality. I've been collecting Sunday roast dinners for a client as their carer for over two years. The problem is that portions become noticeably smaller in summer, and this has happened consistently. I've raised it before, but it keeps happening. It's disappointing, especially as my client looks forward to a proper Sunday treat. I hope the feedback is heard and portions can stay more consistent throughout the year.

We'd been turned away at the previous place because we hadn't booked, and were very hungry when we came across this restaurant/hotel. Here we got a warm, kind welcome. It's comfortable and cosy, the food was delicious and came in large portions, and the price was fair. We left full, and they packed up what my daughter hadn't finished. The one downside was a very long wait, especially when we were so hungry. Maybe that was because only two women were covering the restaurant and bar on a busy evening. Even so, I recommend it and would eat here again if I passed through.
