The converted barn is full of character, and the renovation felt considerate of both the building and its surroundings. The three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, were all spacious. There was a cosy lounge with a wood burner, a huge kitchen/diner with all the appliances we needed, and a scullery with a washing machine. WiFi reached every corner despite the thick walls, which helped my son work on his Masters dissertation. We booked the cottage for my 50th birthday and arrived around 6pm on Friday for three nights. It was already getting dark, so we couldn't really see the view. Parking was a bit short on arrival, with just one space outside the property. My children were travelling from different parts of the country, and they had to find somewhere nearby to park safely without obstructing other road users. Apart from that, everything was perfect. The cottage was warm when we arrived, with biscuits on the table, milk in the fridge and a thorough guidebook about the village. Joanne, our lovely host, came by on Saturday morning to check we were happy. We had a nice long chat, and she clearly answered our questions, mostly about the swimming pool, before we headed off to plan the day. It's a beautiful cottage in a beautiful spot, and we fully intend to return next July. It's fairly central for everyone in our group, so we're hoping to make this a yearly long weekend. Definitely worth another visit.

We've stayed in plenty of holiday rentals, and this was the worst by far. The place was dirty, with broken furniture and outdated electrical fittings when we arrived. Those were only replaced after we complained. We left a day early because of building work on site that we hadn't been warned about. After following up with the holiday let company when we got home, we were told the owners thought everything was fine. Don't go here.

The hosts leave you to yourself unless you need help, which we liked. Having exclusive use of their private pool meant we could enjoy it without sharing with anyone. There's also a local 488 bus from Hook Norton to Banbury town centre. The Stagecoach family group ticket for four people was £12 for the day.

The village is picturesque, and its brewery is open to visitors, with a good shop that sells plenty beyond beer. The rooms were comfortable, the welcome friendly and the outdoor space was nice. The swimming pool was a great extra. I'd recommend staying here if you want to be within easy reach of Oxford and the surrounding area.

We had a short cottage break with the kids. The rooms were spacious, and the cottage was lovely. Getting them out of the heated pool was a challenge, but once we did, we enjoyed some nice pubs and short walks. Quality stay.
