Derby Inn

We’d been meaning to visit for a while, and stopped in for lunch with the family. So glad we finally did. We felt welcome right away, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent and very high quality. My family and I will definitely return. Thanks to the team, and I’d highly recommend it.

Glad we stopped for lunch. There was a great choice, and everything we ordered was made to a high standard and tasted great. The staff were all friendly and helpful, which really helps when you’ve got two fussy kids with you.

There was enough room for us in the bar area, and the stone floors were ideal for the dogs. We’d booked for lunch while walking locally, and came with dogs and a child. The staff were friendly and took our order. There were options on both the menu and the specials board. I had the burger, which was tasty, and its relish went well with the chips. It’s a nice place and a great stop if you’re walking or cycling nearby. The only thing I’d improve is the Coke, which was a bit weak and tasteless.

I’d mentioned the birthday and anniversary when booking, but nobody acknowledged either. A staff member saying happy birthday or anniversary, or a candle in a pudding with a message on the plate, would have been a simple touch. The food was only okay this time. I’ve been several times before and loved it, but this visit was below par. It was lukewarm, and the mains took ages to arrive, with dessert taking even longer. This was on a Wednesday evening, and there were only our table of three and two other tables, one of two and one of four. We’d travelled a distance for a celebration, but the staff, service, and food didn’t make it feel like one. Very disappointing.
