The Moon Inn at Stoney Middleton

Our room at The Moon Inn is unbelievably spacious and has everything we need for a short stay. It’s warm despite the freezing weather, and the bed is incredibly comfortable. We’re here this week over half term, and it’s been an amazing find. We spent a lovely evening at the pub’s weekly quiz with locals and a few other visitors. The owner, bar staff, and quiz master were all friendly and made us feel welcome. We had lunch at the famous Toll House Fish and Chips shop, 50 metres down the road, then took a short walk around the village. Later, we had delicious bar snacks at The Moon Inn. There’s a huge choice of games, so after the quiz we played cards, dominoes, and Trivial Pursuits while listening to a great soundtrack. Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow, and we’ll definitely return!

Our room was warm, spacious, and very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay at The Moon Inn in Stoney Middleton. It was exactly what we wanted and a good base for exploring the area. The pub had a great atmosphere, the food was very good, and the service was excellent throughout. The staff were friendly and attentive. We’d definitely come back and would gladly recommend it.

I stayed for two nights for a very close friend’s wedding and travelled by train, which left me stuck without a taxi for the pre-nuptial dinner. The staff arranged a lift for me, and without their help I’d have missed it. Georgina was particularly kind, but every member of staff went above and beyond. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked to order and served piping hot. The room was fairly big, with a very comfy bed. It’s a fabulous little pub in a pretty village, and I highly recommend it.

We only popped in for a drink while staying nearby, but ended up having food and joining a proper Wednesday night pub quiz. We didn’t stay overnight, but the fried chicken and prawn curry were both absolutely delicious. Our dogs agreed too. Great pub and atmosphere.
