The staff were quick, friendly, and knew their ales. We didn’t eat, but the food at the next table looked and smelled fantastic, and came out fast. It’s a cosy, welcoming pub with a great choice of local ales, plus Dortmunder Union lager on tap. I’ll be back.

The setting was pleasant, but the meal let it down. My burger was average, the onion rings were plain, and the chips had all the crispness of a wet flannel. Nobody checked in during the meal, which was a shame. For those prices, the food felt poor value and fell well short of what I expected.

This is one of our local pubs, and it’s always got a lovely atmosphere. After a long walk on the hills, it’s a great spot for good food, cheerful staff, and a dog-friendly welcome. The rustic decor is beautiful too. We held our engagement party here on a busy Saturday night. I was able to come early to put up decorations, and the staff made sure the room was clean and cleared for us. They were fantastic throughout, and everyone had a brilliant evening. Thanks to the whole team for everything. I’d recommend it both for an event and for a nice pub lunch. 10/10.

We had dinner here on both nights and the food was fantastic after our long days exploring the Peak District. The inn was cosy, and the surroundings were beautiful. The train station is just a short walk away. We had a lovely stay this weekend.

I was glad I chose the smaller fish and chips. The portion was still generous, and I couldn’t quite finish it. The flaky fish came with peas and tartar sauce, was beautifully presented, tasty, and arrived promptly. I also enjoyed a pint of beer. I’d come to Edale on a spur-of-the-moment hike and was hungry, so I first tried the Ramblers near the station. A rude staff member left me waiting at the bar while he sorted other things out, so I headed up the road to find another pub. Here, a friendly bearded bloke greeted me straight away. While he poured my pint, I asked which way to take an easy scenic stroll instead of tackling Kinder Scout like the masochists do. He was very helpful. I left full and happy, and would definitely visit again if I’m in the area.
