We’ve just spent five days at the "Old Workshop" and had a very nice stay. The weather was kind to us, and we’d return. There were four of us, aged 17, 50, 80, and 85, so pleasing everyone wasn’t easy, but the cottage did a pretty good job. It was warm when we arrived, and the welcome pack was just what we needed after a long, rainy journey. The cottage is in the heart of Castleton, which is handy if you can’t walk far. It’s upstairs, something different that may not suit everyone, and the window views are limited. From the rear upstairs window, though, we could see Pevril Castle. The lounge was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with room for six adults to sit comfortably. The kitchen was also large and had everything we needed apart from a dishwasher, which would have been a luxury for us anyway. The microwave would be easier and safer to use at a lower level, especially for an older person. The double bedroom was the smaller one, but cosy and adequate. The bathroom and shower worked well, though the room was a little small and difficult for an elderly person to get into. The larger twin bedroom has an attached en suite, which was a nice extra, although it has a bath rather than a shower. Parking took some care. We had a small saloon, and the neighbour had a larger saloon, so I could squeeze in and out without disturbing them. With two SUVs or larger saloons, you’d have to manoeuvre to get out, so bear that in mind. We managed fine, but street parking is difficult.

Right in the centre of Castleton, with a clean off-road parking space. I can’t fault it and will be back.

We loved both the cottage and Castleton. It’s a beautiful, quiet, cosy two-bedroom place with all the amenities.

A comfortable, well-equipped place to stay. Thoroughly recommend it.
