Airport Inn Gatwick

The airport shuttle stops right outside often, which is really handy, and there are picnic tables and benches outdoors. There’s also a petrol station next door for snacks or toiletries. I ended up here after my flight was cancelled. The room was clean, though it smelled a bit odd. The double room was smaller than other hotel rooms, but I didn’t mind since I only needed somewhere to crash.

The room was clean and just comfortable enough for a night’s rest during an emergency. Amenities were limited, with no toothpaste or blow dryer. Check-in staff were warm and really helpful, though check-out was less so. The bar looked welcoming and had plenty of options, but I didn’t try it. The restaurant food was mediocre.

We just needed a place to sleep before an early flight, and the clean room and comfortable beds did the job. The early shuttle to the airport cost only £4, which was good value. You can hear everything through the very thin walls from the rooms on either side, though. I’d recommend earplugs if you stay here.

The car park is handy, but the turn by the barrier is really tight and awkward to manoeuvre in and out of. The room was very hot, and the air con didn’t help. I had to open the window as far as it would go, which made it incredibly noisy, but that was better than being stiflingly hot all night. It’s very dated, though fairly clean. The staff weren’t the friendliest, and one person gave me wrong information about the shuttle. It did what I needed, but I’d only use it as a last resort since there are far better hotels nearby.
