The cottage has plenty of character, with lovely low beams and door frames, and Nyman's National Trust is close by. The location was excellent for a weekend away. On arrival, reception were friendly and expected us, and we found fresh milk and a bottle of wine thoughtfully left in the fridge. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed linen and towels were fresh and clean, and the ground-floor bedroom has a bath. There’s also a shower upstairs, but the only toilets are on the ground floor. The accommodation felt tired but quirky, and the lounge furnishings were rather worn. One thing to sort out before staying: ask for the main gate key code. We came back late and the key fob we’d been given didn’t work. Neither of the two call-out numbers answered, so the lower service rating reflects that. After a while, we managed to get in ourselves.
