Dinner and breakfast were part of the Sunday Night Escape package we booked at the Three Acres Inn and Restaurant. The meal was delicious and perfectly cooked: smoked salmon to start, roast sirloin of beef, then sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Drinks and coffee cost extra. Our room was a good size, nicely decorated, and had a large comfortable bed. The spacious bathroom had a deep roll top bath as well as a walk-in shower. The restaurant has imaginative decor, subdued lighting and lots of interesting fixtures, which make for a pleasant atmosphere. Although it can seat plenty of people, it’s divided into smaller sections and the tables are well spaced. Service was excellent, as you’d expect from a top quality restaurant. The whole stay was comfortable and very pleasing. We’d happily book again.

The only thing that spoilt the evening was a large birthday party, with everyone talking over their own guests and making things unpleasant for the other diners. We would have stayed for dessert if the noise level had been better. The front of house was attentive, professional and friendly, with exemplary manners and service. The dishes were very well presented and fairly priced for this level of cuisine. Smart, classic dining.

The wine list was good if you weren’t driving and could choose a bottle, though the by-the-glass selection was rather limited. Service was a little slow at times on a Sunday at 4pm, but I’d absolutely visit again. It was my first time at 3 Acres and the food didn’t disappoint. The crispy partridge was outstanding, and the roast sirloin was excellent.

Set in a beautiful location, this is a stunning pub and restaurant serving premium produce such as caviar and oysters. I’d recommend it for a Sunday roast. The cheeseboard could use a little more attention to detail.

We went on the Friday before valentines, and it was very busy. I think they were stretched, because the service was hit and miss. It wasn’t bad, just okay. The food was good, but for the high prices we expected a little more. Portions were small and the dishes weren’t very adventurous. Still, we did enjoy the evening.
