The cottage was very comfortable, had good facilities and welcomed dogs. The location was fabulous.
It was a lovely, quiet place to stay despite being on a working farm. It’s down a long dead-end road, so there isn’t much passing traffic. The bungalow was very spacious, with plenty of cupboard space in the bedrooms and kitchen. That mattered to us because we bring our own food and cook every day. The fridge freezer also had lots of room, though the top fridge shelf is very high. Bring hand soap, as there wasn’t any. The welcome pack was just a few tea bags and sugar, with no coffee or milk, but that’s not a big deal if you come prepared. Bedroom doors have signs saying 'no dogs', so keep that in mind when booking. The layout means you can put your dog’s bed by the front door, and they can still feel close while you’re in the master bedroom, with just a door between you. Hornsea beach is a 15 mins drive away, dog friendly, with plenty of places to eat and free parking. Bridlington is a bit farther up, about half an hour’s drive, with cheap parking at the North beach, free toilets and dog friendly areas. Tesco will deliver to this holiday cottage, but you might need to direct them because the house across the road has a similar name. All in all, a great base to explore from.
The location was excellent, with plenty of equipment and facilities. The log burner and hot tub were a bonus. It just needs a little TLC.
The courtyard hot tub looks out over open fields, and dogs are welcome too. It’s quiet and peaceful here, with a beach that’s always deserted just a 10-minute walk away. There’s a pub you can reach on foot in about 20 minutes, across the fields and headland, and the farmer next door is really friendly and helpful.
We had a really nice week here. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and you can easily spend the day relaxing in the hot tub and taking in the views. Hornsea is about 15 minutes away, with shops, a seafront and a small designer-style shopping centre. There are some lovely pubs for eating out, and the local chippy in Aldbrough made the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. We met Rough, the local dog, and a lovely black-and-white cat we could happily have smuggled home. We didn’t bring a dog, but this would be a great place if you do. It’s rural, peaceful and close to the sea, with what feels like a practically private beach. You’ll need a car to get around unless you’re happy just lazing about. The local pub and shop aren’t really within walking distance, despite what the Hoseasons details say, though they’re only a few minutes away by car.
