The Bear Hotel by Greene King Inns

All seven of us had a relaxing meal in a clean setting, and the food was fantastic. We usually go to the lord nelson, which is good too, but this meal was cooked to a higher standard and looked great. We stopped here halfway to meet family, bringing a young child, and everyone on the team was so friendly with us and them, especially our server. I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name. The outside area looks lovely, so we’ll have to come back for lunch. Thanks to the whole team working that night. Hope they get this message.

We came for breakfast in town to celebrate our son’s birthday. There was a nice choice of dishes for different tastes, and the portions were good value without being too big. My traditional breakfast was very well prepared and everyone else was happy with theirs. The staff were warm and helpful, with attentive service that never felt intrusive. It did seem like there might be too few people to run the hotel, but those on shift gave great service. A pleasant, friendly place for a lovely breakfast.

My son and I come back every other Saturday for breakfast, and we always enjoy it. The food is very good, with excellent quality, and the staff are professional, friendly and genuinely nice.

Good value and a lovely pub. We had Sunday lunch: the turkey was gorgeous, while the beef didn’t impress as much. The other roast items were very good. The schnitzel and burger were good too, and we liked the sticky toffee pudding. There could be more dessert choices.
