The Tally Ho

We live over an hour away, but we’ll definitely make the trip back. We happened upon this lovely little pub today and were so glad we did. The staff, who we found out are volunteers, were welcoming and friendly, and managed to fit us in. The Sunday roast was fabulous, as were the crab starter and fish of the day. Great food and an A1 atmosphere. Highly recommend.

My partner and I broke down nearby, and the staff were amazing, going well out of their way to help us. While still serving customers, they offered us a drink and helped get our car back on the road. We’re so grateful. Absolutely lovely pub and even lovelier staff.

The food is always lovely, but today one waitress was snobby and rude when I asked a question. She also knocked over a candle and wax got on my brother’s trousers. I understand accidents happen, but she didn’t seem very bothered and barely asked if he was okay or apologized. Her attitude has put us off coming back. Apart from that, it’s a lovely place.

We had a really nice meal before Christmas at The Tally Ho. The menu was hearty, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the service felt relaxed and confident. It’s a charming pub with a warm welcome. Merry Christmas to everyone at The Tally Ho!
