The Bays Guest House

The owners are lovely and doing the best they can with all the restrictions in place. Everything was very clean, and everyone had to wear masks. They also took our temperature when we first arrived. Because of Covid, we couldn't have breakfast in the dining room, so it was left on a tray outside our door. It was delicious, especially the continental option. Our bedroom had a nautical, Laura Ashleyish style and was a bit small, particularly the bathroom. Don't pick bedroom number 4, though, as that's where the fuse box is.

Breakfast was a relaxed, unhurried affair, with a marvellous choice, and the cooked food arrived promptly and piping hot. The woman serving us was charming and attentive without hovering. The house was spotlessly clean throughout, and it's clear a lot of time, money and taste have gone into The Bays Guest House. We were made very welcome from arrival to departure. Our Attic room was beautifully fitted and tastefully furnished. The ceiling was a little low, but the comfort, sea view from the dormer window and thoughtful extras more than made up for it. There were sweets, a selection of bubble bath and a stocked fridge. They deserve every success for all their hard work. Highly recommended, and thank you for a superb stay.

We had such a relaxing, thoughtfully arranged stay for two nights on our honeymoon. The room was spotless and had everything, from a sewing kit and ironing board to soap and shampoo dispensers. On arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles, then found rose petal arrows along the hall and a heart of petals at our door. Breakfast was amazing, with full English and other options. We had a window seat with roses on the table. The cabinet had cereals and fresh fruit, including raspberries, strawberries, melons, grapes and blackberries. The smooth ground coffee was lovely. Five stars aren't enough. We highly recommend it and will be back next year for our anniversary.

The place was clean and comfortable, with a good ensuite and storage area. It's right in the heart of town, which is a good location. The breakfasts were disappointing, though. They came in Tupperware as an extreme Covid safety measure, had to be eaten at the small table in the room, and the choice was limited.
