Grafham Water Lodge

The lodge had everything we needed for a self-catering break, and the location was beautiful and very peaceful. It could use some repairs, though. The rooms were functional, with limited hanging space, and the stairs to the upper floor were narrow and very steep. That wouldn't suit an older person with arthritis, but could work well for young families.

Zoe was always ready to help whenever we needed anything. It was a lovely way to take a break from busy life, with lots of greenery around. Staying in a wooden house felt beautiful, and the place looks different at night. One of the best experiences we’ve had.

We'd happily come back to this lovely spot for Grafham Water. The lodge was nice, though it could do with a spruce-up, so it isn't quite five-star. It also wasn't ready when we arrived, but we were fine waiting and played football on the grass nearby. Would happily stay again, and rhyme recommend it.

The walks by the lake and through the woods, cycling trails, bird watching, or just reading and enjoying the rain in private, there are loads of ways to spend time here. We loved it and will visit again. The peaceful village of cottages sits in the forest near Grafham waters / lake, with a quiet side road leading in from the main road. The houses follow the same style along a beautiful road through the woods. There’s parking for around 20 cars at the village entrance, along with recycling bins, and you can also park two or three cars in front of each cottage, depending on where you book. Inside, the house is comfortable and has all the kitchen equipment you need, including a dishwasher. The kitchen is small, and while the outside looks fancy and photogenic, don't expect luxury inside. Space and ceiling heights are limited. The staircase is very steep, so it isn't suitable for elderly guests, though there is a master bedroom downstairs. Upstairs are two attic-style bedrooms, each with two single beds. Every bedroom has a TV with for sticks connected to Toktok internet. The cottage we stayed in had no wheelchair access, though I don't know about the others. The wooden deck at the front is very spacious and great for a BBQ party. Kids will love staying here.
