Our hotel let us down, so we booked this guest house at the last minute and were glad we did. The woman who runs it is lovely, warm and friendly, and there’s a nice pub two doors away. The house is immaculate, with elegant decor and lots of thoughtful little touches. Breakfast had a great range to choose from. We’d happily recommend it and return.

Fran and Jackie were so friendly and made things easy for my wife, who stayed behind while I was at work. They gave her helpful ideas about where to go and what to see. The accommodation was great, the location was spot on, breakfast was excellent, and The Duchess is only a short walk from the Chalice and was excellent too. We stayed during my work visit in the last week of January. I know where I’ll stay next time I’m in the area for work.

Jackie was really accommodating, and her daughter’s pub two doors down had a great choice of beers, just right for unwinding after a busy day. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely, and breakfast was spot on. The kitchen wasn’t open during our stay, though it was due to open in the next week or so. They were happy for us to get fish and chips from around the corner and eat in the courtyard. We’d stay here again if meetings bring us back to the area.

The room was bright and airy, and the bed was super comfortable. Jackie gave us such a warm welcome, and Fran made exceptionally good breakfasts. We loved it from the minute we arrived. Highly recommended, five stars don’t feel like enough.

The woman running the business made us feel incredibly welcome. It’s a really great place to stay, with a superb room, a great bed and shower, and fantastic breakfast. I’ll definitely return to the Chalice next time I’m in the area.
