The Porterhouse

That crispy pork belly was fantastic, and the menu has plenty of small plates and snacks to mix and match once you get hungry. I dropped in spontaneously for a quiet beer on my own while I was nearby, and the welcoming look from outside proved accurate. I sat at the bar side, which suited me for a drink, while the other side is set up more for full meals. It's easy to get talking with the locals. After my usual Guinness, I asked what to try and found a great range of local beers and IPAs on tap. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere, whether you're after a quiet pint or a chat with other guests.

We were so tired that we fell asleep at bedtime to the live entertainment, including the 'Cockney' singer! Even though the pub was busy, we were fitted in at the teepee at the last minute. Everyone made us feel welcome and was happy to help. The help-yourself breakfast had everything we needed. Thank you Porterhouse, we'd gladly stay again.

Update: I visited today 10/01/2026 and was really pleased. The service was quick, the lady serving us was lovely, and the chef deserves big compliments. The food was incredible, thank you very much! On an earlier quiet evening, I was disappointed when I asked for a mocktail and was offered an Aperol spritz with alcohol in it. That made no sense. The staff need training on making drinks 🤦‍♀️

Elle was a friendly, accommodating waitress and made us feel at ease during dinner for my husband's birthday. She checked that our order was right and that his gluten allergy was catered for. She also remembered I’d mentioned our honeymoon coming up in a few weeks, and wished us well when we left. The food was delicious, and we’ll definitely be back.
