Willingham House

The Queen Suite had a good amount of space, and we liked the garden view from the window. At first the room seemed as expected, apart from the temperature, but the stay went downhill quickly. The bins still had rubbish from previous guests, including opened Prosecco bottles, and the smell was unpleasant. It seemed the heating had been on high all day before we arrived. The room was unbearably hot and wouldn't cool even with every window open. There was no way to adjust the temperature ourselves, so I contacted "Reception", an off-site third-party out-of-hours contact centre. They said they'd escalate it and send someone up, but nobody came during our stay. We didn't see any staff at all, which made things even more uncomfortable. There were no instructions or welcome information, so I had to figure out the remotes, coffee machine, and appliances myself. I still don't know what one of the remotes was for. Information about local shops and restaurants would have been a nice touch too. The kitchen's tea and coffee supplies were limited and hadn't been restocked. There were no mugs in the room, so I searched the shared kitchen for some, and there were only one or two coffee pods. There wasn't a bathroom bin either, for sanitary waste or anything else. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

31/10/2025: Update, I've changed my rating to 5 stars because the owner runs it as a hotel and is a person of integrity. My room was superb, with a comfortable bed. The only downside was that breakfast isn't served.

My partner and I had a lovely stay at this gorgeous hotel. The room was nice, and the food and service were fantastic. I can only assume the poor reviews here are from Trolls! 🧌 Book it and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend 👌

I've never actually stayed here, to be honest. What I will say is that the owner is an absolute legend! He was offered a silly amount of money to house people for the Home Office, but refused. This hotel needs the full backing of the British people. I'll be coming to stay myself.
