We spent our 29th wedding anniversary here and had such a lovely time. The bedroom was spacious, with an ensuite and a nicely sized shower, and the decor was gorgeous. Downstairs, the living area felt cosy and beautiful. Breakfast was a treat, with a great continental spread and the option of a cooked breakfast too. The owners were so friendly and accommodating.

The hosts made us feel right at home, and breakfast was generous and really good. We loved the fresh fruit, cereals, homemade bread and croissants so much that we skipped the full English on the second morning. The guest rooms are spotless and nicely furnished, with soft towels and a good walk-in shower. There’s a secluded garden view through the French windows, too. Since they let just one room, we had a large, pleasant sitting and breakfast room to ourselves below the bedroom. This is a family home, with the family’s rooms on one side of the back entrance and the B&B rooms on the other. We’d happily return. It’s among the best B&Bs we’ve stayed in. Lastingham is a lovely village, and the pub is only a few minutes’ walk away. The locals were welcoming, and we enjoyed the food there. We had a very pleasant few days.

The bed was so comfortable that I slept really well, and the bedroom was sparkling clean. There’s a Juliette balcony looking over the garden and the moors. It’s a family home that lets out just one room, and guests can also use the sitting room where breakfast is served. Breakfast had fresh fruit, cereals, Danish pastries, fresh bread and a full English. I can’t think of anything it needed. We’ll definitely be back to this lovely little find.

Those breakfasts were so good, I’m still thinking about them! We had a wonderful stay at April Cottage. The hosts were brilliant and happy to help with anything. The house, village and surrounding area are all beautiful. Thanks so much, we’re telling our friends and can’t wait to come back. Five stars don’t cover it, so here are ten.

Really friendly hosts, and they gave us useful route advice that helped with our travels. The village is quiet and makes a nice base for exploring the North York Moors. We’d definitely consider coming back.
