We stayed in this purpose-built holiday apartment six or seven times over four years, around 2007/8 to 2011/12, when Anne owned it. Every visit it was immaculate and luxurious, with wonderful views. There’s safe off-road parking and a spot reserved for you. Ilfracombe works well for couples and families, with little amusement arcades, great shops, pubs, takeaways and restaurants where you can eat in. La Gendarmerie was a particularly fantastic restaurant. Its chef was mentioned in the Michelin Star guide one year. I was lucky enough to eat at Ramsey’s Restaurant in Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, and La Gendarmerie’s food was almost on a par, at a fraction of the cost. I don’t know if it’s still trading. There’s also plenty of mainstream shopping on the high street. We hope we can stay in this beautiful apartment again one day. 10/10 across the board.

The location is good, though all those stairs will keep you fit. The instructions for getting into the building and parking were very good, as was the maintenance man who dealt with the video not working. There was enough space apart from the second bedroom, where the door touched the bed. We had to wedge the Juliet balcony door open, and overall that room wasn’t suitable for adults.

Lovely apartment in a nice setting. The only downside is that the apartments get very warm.

The sea views are fantastic, and it’s a really nice apartment.

This place’s AONB status is easy to understand.
