The Towers

They welcomed me by name, and the service was amazing, friendly and relaxing. The place was easy to find. My room was spacious, the shower was amazing, and they could cater for a gluten-free breakfast. Highly recommend.

Rod was such a welcoming, friendly host, and incredibly knowledgeable about South African history. We're South Africans now living in Dorset, and we were fascinated by his explanation of how Varley House got its name. He also has a fascinating collection of old books and novels. We only passed through Ilfracombe, staying at Varley House in the first week of June, and wished we could have stayed longer. Our upstairs room looked out over the back and was bright, airy, clean, quiet and spacious, with a coffee station and a chair. The bathroom had a newly renovated walk-in shower. Since it was just one night, we were invited to park on the drive. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. We'll definitely stay again in Ilfracombe, and Varley House will be our first choice.

The hosts were fantastic when we stayed in 2023, so welcoming and accommodating. They helped us find local places to visit, and the house was gorgeous, with lovely views over Ilfracombe. Breakfast was lovely too, including an exceptional vegetarian option. A lovely stay.

We stayed one night before visiting Lundy, and the owner kindly let us leave the car there while we were on the island. The room was nice, the bathroom beautiful, and the location lovely. Breakfast was nice too. We'd stay again.
