We stopped for one night on our way to Cornwall and found a real gem. Sarah, who owns it with her husband, was so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. When I asked about a vegetarian breakfast, she arranged for the chef to go out specially for veggie sausages. That’s service with a smile! We stayed in room 5 goose lane, which was finished to a high standard, with a comfy bed and tea and coffee provided. The food Sarah’s husband cooks is exceptional. From arrival to departure, the service was friendly, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to friends. Special mention to Isla, I think that’s her name, who ran the bar and restaurant with Sarah so efficiently, always smiling and ready for a chat. Thanks, we’ll be back.

Breakfast was cooked just right, and there was a good choice. Our room was roomy, clean and comfortable, with an ensuite and tea and coffee facilities. The team made us feel welcome. The bar and restaurant draw both locals and visitors, with plenty of beers and well-cooked pub food. A very pleasant stay, and I’d happily recommend it.

We were a group of 11 at the Five Dials for an event, and Sarah and Paul and the team looked after us so well. The food was delicious, service was top notch, and we didn’t have to wait long. I’d also booked a room, which was easy to sort out on arrival. It was spacious, very clean, and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious too. Thanks so much, I’d highly recommend stopping by if you’re nearby.

The owners are lovely, down to earth, and you can tell how much the business means to them. The food was so good I’d drive back just to eat there. Our room was comfortable, modern, and very clean. I can’t recommend the place enough.

That seasonal menu was hard to resist, so I skipped my usual steak and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding and went for my first Christmas dinner of the season. The roast turkey and Christmas pudding were full of subtle festive flavours, and the orange sauce with the pudding was a lovely surprise. It was a real treat. I’d been to the Christmas meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse and often stop somewhere on my way home. The Five Dials Inn, Horton has been a godsend ever since I first found it. Sarah Rowswell - Freeman and her team always welcome me warmly, and there are lovely staff to look after the table. Isla and Neve were great this time too. I’m sure I’ll be back soon. Sarah and Paul, keep up the good work, you’re smashing it. A Christmas present to myself, with compliments of the season to the team and to me. Much love, Simon x
