The Flying Fish Stables

We stayed from 28th to 30th November, and the rooms were a real highlight. Ours was warm and cozy, with a big comfortable bed, a good sized room, tea and coffee, and a decent sized bathroom with both bath and shower. There were chairs on the porch outside each room too. I honestly can’t fault the place. Buddy, Kate and the team were friendly, helpful and always up for a chat. We ate there both nights and loved both meals. The Penang Curry was a 10. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty to choose from, plus a really good cooked breakfast. We’re already talking about coming back. We’d first dropped in because friends kept recommending it. We didn’t see the rooms then, but they looked nice from outside and I thought we might book another time. The countryside views over the fields and woods are lovely, and the staff and owner were welcoming and chatty. The pub has a comfortable atmosphere, British and Caribbean decor and a menu with both British and Caribbean food. There’s plenty of seating inside and out. We didn’t eat on that first visit, though the food looked good, so we planned to try it later. The Wedding barn looked nice too. They have live music, but it’s best to contact them to find out when.

Popped in on Friday night and really liked the welcome and atmosphere. The pork belly was a favourite, and the fish and chips were lovely too. Good all round.

Really quiet spot in a great location, and I’d definitely stay again. Buddy and Kate were warm and genuine. The room was immaculate with a lovely big bed, and the bathroom was great, especially the walk-in shower.

The food was lovely, with some unusual things on the menu, and that view! The staff were attentive and the owners friendly. For a weekend away, the rooms were hard to fault: clean, large, comfortable, warm and quiet, with a lovely big bathroom. Give it a try. If you don’t love it, I’d say you’re the problem!
